School is a Game (Just a Poorly Designed One)
The whole family has been reading Jane McGonigal’s new book recently. I think Pete has it at the moment. It’s full of interesting ideas about how to use game design techniques to make things work better in the real world. We’ve really been enjoying it, but haven’t gotten around to writing our thoughts up for the blog. Sorry about that.
Until we do get around to posting something about it, check out this presentation which Seth Priebatsch gave at SXSW. It’s about how to use these techniques to improve schools.
I think that the audio is available here if you prefer, but I’m having problems with their Flash-based audio player.
What do you think? Would you rather come home from school with XP instead of homework?
