Gastown, Vancouver
We’re in Vancouver this week for SIGGRAPH staying in a little apartment in a funky neighborhood called Gastown. It’s a 5 minute walk to the Convention Center, but has a better atmosphere than the sterile area around the big hotels over there. It’s right by the train yards and docks. This is most definitely still a working port.
We spent this evening at the convention center; registering and going to the Technical Papers Fast Forward. Most of the action starts tomorrow, which is good as we were up at 4am (1am Vancouver time) to start our trip. It’s interesting to see the artifacts left from the Winter Olympics, like the cauldron which held the Olympic flame which is right outside the convention center.
