Florida Birds
We were visiting my parents in Florida last week. Spring has definitely sprung there. Since there were a lot of birds out, and I had a new camera to play with, I took a lot of pictures of birds.
As usual, there were a lot of ospreys around. There was one which spent a lot of time in the tree just outside my parent’s place. Isn’t she beautiful? If you look closely, you can see the tail of the fish she caught. You should also zoom in and check out those talons.
There were also a lot of pelicans about. The white ones, in particular, are sometimes rather elegant looking birds.
But not when they’re working. When they’re diving for fish, they kind of look like clowns, don’t they?
We also saw a lot of spoonbills & ibises.
The busiest ones though were the mockingbirds.
The males were having some serious fights over territory.
It makes me wonder whether the ones we’re going to get at home in a month or so are all of the ones which lost the fights in Florida. Maybe a Massachusetts address is only for losers in the mockingbird world.
