Golden Guide
Hemmings just had a blog post that really tickled me. It was about an obscure old book called The Golden Guide to Sports Cars. Well I had a copy of that book when I was little. In fact, I still have it. As you can see, my copy’s a bit worse for wear, because it was my first car book, and I spent many hours pouring over it when I was little.
It’s full of the type of information I was fascinated back then, like how a gearbox works …
… and how to find the perfect line around a corner.
But my favorite part was “The world’s showroom of cars”. It is about 75 pages of technical details about roughly a hundred 60’s sports cars. You can guess which pages were my favorites.
But I really loved the more obscure cars too. I mean, who can resist learning all about something like the Sovam 1100?
Thanks for the memories Hemmings!
