Seabrook
Here’s another oddity I found while digging through boxes the other day.
Many years ago, I worked at the greyhound track in Seabrook NH for a while. I helped with the totalisator, which was sort of a crude computer that calculates how much the different tickets pay off.
This is what a page of the program looked like:
All sort of crazy information about each of the dogs. How they’ve done in past races, who their parents were, etc. And notice dog number 5. Interesting name, no?
It was a funny job, and the people who worked there were pretty funny too. One thing I remember clearly is that none of them would go to horse races. They thought they were clearly rigged because there’s a person riding on the horse. If there’s a person, there’s going to be cheating, right?
