Art Nouveau Budapest
Budapest has a lot of art nouveau treasures. Last weekend we set out to learn a bit more about that period.
First we visited the György Ráth villa.
Rath was the director of one of the museums in town, and he had an amazing personal collection of artwork and furniture which is on display in his villa.
After that, we went to visit a even smaller museum about Miksa Róth. He was an artist who worked in stained glass …
… and mosaics:
You can see his mosaics on some of the buildings around Budapest, like this amazing one on the Turkish Bank:
It was really interesting to learn about how he developed the techniques, and the museum is working on restoring his workshop at the back of the house.
