Form Now
One of the perks we had when I was working at Formlabs was that we could use the printers as much as we wanted. I’ve missed that since I retired. I have a tiny FDM printer, but I can’t really justify the shop space for a Formlabs machine because I wouldn’t use it enough. But it was pretty sweet to be able to pop something off on their giant fleet of printers whenever I wanted.
Well, Formlabs is launching a service called Form Now which lets you run jobs in their print farm. I had been cutting some dovetails recently and wasn’t happy with the jigs I’d found at my local woodworking shop, so I fired up OnShape and designed my own.
I uploaded that to Form Now and told them to print it in Nylon on a Fuse. A couple of days later, this box appeared.
Ripped that open, and I had the part I needed in the shop.
Their website seems really easy to use, and it was very quick. It’s really nice to have access to this.
