Clock
There’s a new sound in our house this week. This clock has been in Chris’ family for more than 150 years.
It just came back from Classic Clocks in Wayland. It’s all tuned up and running now. Merrily bonging on the hour.
It was made by Elisha Brewster in Bristol, Connecticut. Parts of the workings may have been manufactured in the 1830’s, while the case is probably 1855-60. It then crossed the Atlantic to a farmhouse in England. It made its way back year last year in a jet. Quite a voyage for an artifact from the early days of modern mass production.
Apparently Elisha was a distant relative of mine.
