Today President Obama named Elizabeth Warren (one of our favorite people) as a special advisor to set up the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. It would have been run to watch the Republicans try to argue with her during confirmation hearings during an election year, but we all know that the reality is that they would have placed one of those anonymous holds on her nomination so that nothing whatsoever happened. So I guess that this is the best course. It’s certainly better to have her out in the spotlight advocating for the middle class. I would highly recommend that you read some of her books (like this one) and think about what has happened to the middle class in recent years.
Here’s a reminder of why we need her in this position.

On a related note, the word for the day is kudoka. I’d also recommend Timothy Noah’s recent series on Slate.
