Ari Ne’eman
Wired has posted a great interview with Ari Ne’eman. If you’ve heard of Ari, then you’ve probably already heard some of the controversy (link1, link2, link3) about his appointment to the National Council on Disability. If you don’t know him, Ari is the founder of The Autistic Self Advocacy Network. They are a group which argues that people with autism need to be included in the national conversation about autism. Obama’s nomination of him to the NCD triggered a bit of a spat between people who view autism as a disease which needs to be cured, and people who view it as a challenge that people are living with. It’s an interesting debate and finding the right balance is difficult, so it’s nice of Wired to give him room to explain his point of view. The interview was written by Steve Silberman. Go check it out here.
