Corn Cob Psychometrics
At dinner the other night, we were discussing the two different styles of eating corn on the cob. Some people go straight along the rows like an old typewriter, while other people go around and around. Well, Ben Tilly thinks that you can use this to divide people up into two different styles of thought. Sort of a maizean Myers-Briggs test. He claims that of all of the mathematician’s he’s talked to, the analysts go around and the algrebraists go along. He then goes on to extend the theory into other fields like computer programming. I’m not sure I’m buying any of this, but it’s a lovely theory, isn’t it?
Go check it out here and tell me what you think. Which way do you eat your corn?
