Pictures in Silos
The other day, Josh Wallaert posted a nice article about what silos like Facebook are doing to the availability of photographs for reuse. He’s talking about the fact that people are now taking hundreds of millions of photographs which can’t be used for projects like Wikipedia because they’re locked inside of one of the new walled gardens.
This is something we’ve been talking about a lot at home recently because the kids (and adults) on Chris’ project often put their images on Facebook. This makes them look nice for other Facebook users, but it makes it very hard to reuse them within the Clubhouse network itself. That’s kind of tough when it’s something like photos of a Clubhouse event.
Anyways, go read what Josh has to say here, and tell us what you think.
