World’s End
It was really hot today, so we went down to World’s End. World’s End is a beautiful park that was designed by Fredrick Law Olmstead. It’s 250 acres of curving carriage roads and vistas like this:
Once upon a time, it was proposed as the site for the United Nations headquarters, but the unique thing about it is that it’s in the middle of Boston harbor.
That means that it was quite a bit cooler than it was at home. And we could putter around the shore getting our feet wet and finding interest flotsam like this truly enormous horseshoe crab.
If you follow one of the trails over towards Hull, you’ll get up on top of a granite cliff with a great view back at the park.
Plus, there’s blueberries!
