Ex-Formling
I stopped by 35 Medford yesterday to pick up my stuff.
I hadn’t been there since March because of Covid, which has been really weird. It looks pretty much the same as it did when I moved in four and a half years ago. Of course things have changed there. Instead of a couple of little offices, Formlabs now has the entire building and space in some of the neighboring buildings. It’s about 5 times the size it was back then.
It’s been a lot of fun to be part of helping them grow and helping to ship all of the cool products we designed there. But it is finally time for me to stop, and the software team has grown to the point where they really don’t need me any more. When I started, the team fit in a room that’s smaller than my bedroom, plus a closet full of computer gear that crashed whenever the ancient HVAC gave up. Now it dozens of really professional developers spread across three different offices. I’m very proud of what we built, and I’m sure they’ll continue to create things that will amaze you.
Hopefully, I’ll be able to stop by for family lunch once things open up again.
