Painting and Plumbing
There’s been a whole lot of action on our renovation since my last post. We’re working over at the house most days instead of messing around on a computer, so the blog hasn’t been getting updated.
The soapstone countertops have been installed in the kitchen, and have gotten their first coat of mineral oil.
They look pretty great. The kitchen is getting fitted out with shelves, plumbing fixtures, and lights. So many lights.
And the appliances have started to show up,
although the range has been delayed.
The bathroom is also getting fitted out:
But most of the work lately has been painting. We’ve been doing the painting upstairs,
while we let the professionals do the first floor.

And yesterday they installed one of the biggest hot water heaters I’ve ever seen:
They thoughtfully left room for my air compressor behind it, so it’ll be easy to run air out to the garage. And all of this, plus the air handler for the first floor, tuck up under the cellar stairs. So I’ve still got plenty of room for my workshop.
We’ve had a few days recently where it was warm enough to work outside. They’ve put in footings for another support for the back stairs, figured out how to hang the gutters in the cramped eaves of the sunroom, and installed the new outside lights.
It’s all coming together pretty quickly now. We’re about 3 weeks from moving back in!
