Kill Doctor Lucky
One of our favorite games at the moment is Kill Doctor Lucky. It’s sort of like Clue in reverse. In this game, you’re moving around a mansion trying to kill an old guy named Doctor Lucky. The mansion is made up of rooms which look like this:
When you get into a room with him, you get to try and kill him. You do that by playing one of the murder weapon cards.
But, there’s a catch. You can’t attempt to kill him if any of the other players can see you. That includes peeking through doorways and down halls. This makes it very difficult when you’re in a room with lots of doors, or if somebody is following you around.
He’s called Doctor Lucky because he’s really good at avoiding dying. One of the reasons he’s good at it is that the other players have fail cards that they can play to stop a murder attempt.
There are other rules that make it tricky. For example, when the Doctor enters a room with a player in it, the order of play changes so that player goes next. This makes it very hard to plan in advance, because you don’t really know when your next turn will be.
You do need to have the right number of players. If there are too few, then it’s boring, but if you have too many, it’s nearly impossible to get the Doctor alone. But it can still be a lot of fun with a crowd. We’ve really been enjoying it.
