May Flowers
It’s the beginning of May, so there’s lots of action in the garden. Here are some pictures I took Sunday.
One of our favorites this time of year are the phlox. We used to have a long line of it hanging over the stone wall. It put on quite a show. Last fall we split it up and moved it around. It hasn’t really recovered yet, so there’s only a couple of small patches. So instead of showing the long line of it, here’s a closeup with the macro lens. Sort of interesting to get this close.
There are lots of tulips up. From these little ones:
up to the big, dramatic ones.
The grape hyacinths have been up for quite a while
and the bleeding hearts get a pretty early start too.
These grecian wind flowers are also early bloomers. They’re quite small and look like little blue daisys.
The fruit trees are all in bloom too.
But of course classic Mother’s Day flower is the lilac.
