So long as the specific code used to implement a method is different, anyone is free under the Copyright Act to write his or her own code to carry out exactly the same function or specification of any methods used in the Java API.
And didn’t you love the part where Judge Alsup called Boies on the FUD about the rangeCheck function?
I’ve written blocks of code like rangeCheck a hundred times before. I could do it, you could do it.
Judge’s who code are certainly a good thing.
