Plenty of Potatoes for Boston Area
When I was getting the garage ready for the new project, I wanted to improve the insulation so that it’d be a little warmer this winter. As part of that, I took the window frames apart to add insulation there. I found that there was already insulation there, of a sort. The gaps had been stuffed full of rags, pieces of old phone books, and lots of old newspapers.
This was done in 1952, so the old papers are kind of interesting. There was a war going on. They had just agreed to spend $200M building the turnpike. There was also an interesting election campaign going on.
I think that the port of Boston news is pretty interesting. In addition to the ships which are coming and going, it lists all of the overseas flights which are going through Logan on that day. That was 2 departures and 3 arrivals!
