Wiring
I’ve been spending a lot of time on the wiring harness recently. A lot of the time is tracing wires I don’t need, like the door switches or radio, and removing them. This simplifies the harness, but it’s awfully time consuming. My discard pile keeps getting bigger and bigger.
After that, there’s shortening some of the longer runs because the new car is so much more compact. That involves crimp fittings and heat shrink tubing.
It’s a slow process, but it does seem like I can see the light at the end of the tunnel finally. I have the back half of the harness in, but that’s a piece of cake compared to the giant pile of wiring that hides under the scuttle.
Today I placed the front half of the harness in the car so I could figure out where to mount things like fuse boxes. It looked something like this:
Doesn’t that look like fun?
Here’s another view from the other side.
It looks like I’ve still got quite a bit of shortening to do, doesn’t it?
